The popular thing in the online world over the past couple of years seems to be choosing a word for the year instead of setting resolutions. While I still enjoy setting some specific goals for my year, I find an appeal in choosing a word to focus my year on. So, for this year, I tried to take a step back and focus on what would make me healthier this year. What could I be or do that would improve my health in different facets of my life? After some serious reflection, I decided my word for the year is going to be contentment.
Last year I wrote about how my desire for perfection can get in the way of my contentment. And this year, my track to being a healthier me is finding more contentment. So whether it be in my day to day life, the road that leads me to my goals, or a project I’m working on I want to find contentment.
So, while I’m certainly still setting goals for my year; I hope to maintain a focus on my word for the year.
A Mindset of Contentment.
Last year was so busy it was hard to find time for leisure. And from what I read in A Year of Living Danishly, creating time for leisure is an important part in feeling content. So, this year I plan to set more time aside in the evenings to read, crochet, and enjoy time with my family.
While I was pregnant, the birthing class we chose had me listen to positive pregnancy affirmations each day. I found that they made a huge impact in my level of contentment and general peace. I hope to find a similar track of general affirmations I can listen to frequently throughout the year to foster contentment.
Do you have a word for the year? What can you do to bring more contentment into your life?
